I live in company housing (free electricity, 24/7 air conditioned room) and have access to company WiFi, however the network is restricted to most things (the obvious stuff like porn, torrenting etc) and well as things like certain mobile applications but all of which can be worked around via a VPN.
Sorry to ask potentially stupid questions, but can I connect to a pool via VPN? Also I won't have access to the router, so it'll be WiFi only to the internet. I see a lot of miners require a Ethernet cable to connect, which I presume is how it connects to the pool via your router.
Can some ELI5 for me? Or even suggest a work around in regards to a connection such as using a pc to 'slave' to the miner? Could I do a simple test to see if I can access a pool as is?
I'm looking at the Antminer S5 if that helps. Thanks in advance for your help.
