Hash rates soaring

Usually network hash rates (and resulting difficulty increases) are driven by price increases. Something different is going on now though, with the price down in the last 10 days while we still shoot past the exahash mark. If my calculations are right, the equivalent of 37,000 Antminer S7s have come online in the past 2 weeks.
