Antminer D3 (Bitmain's new Dash miner) too good to be true?

I noticed the new D3 miners sold out instantly on Bitmain's website and are now being sold for a 5x markup on eBay. However, even at the inflated eBay prices ($6,000-$10,000 per miner) they still are incredibly profitable. When I calculate these on cryptocompare (15GH/S, 1200 watts, .16c per KWH) they end up netting close to $6,000 a month. Am I missing something here?

If I spent a $5K loan on setting up a Bitcoin Mining station, what would be the best way to do it? Would my monthly income generated cover the loan payments?

I've been recommended to try bitcoin mining by a friend, but have had trouble finding whether a mid-level starting investment can turn a profit. Everything is just about how casual mining isn't profitable. I'm reasonably sure I can qualify for a loan, but since I'm new to bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general, I don't know which processors are the best, or what the most efficient way to set it up or anything like that. I figured asking the experts would be the best way to start. Thanks!

Alexander Vinnik, NOT owner or even EMPLOYEE of BTC-E.

On July 25, 11:00 the FBI staff came to the data center where our server equipment was located and seized all equipment, the servers contained databases and purses of our service. Almost for 6 days we could not get from our hosting provider the sane information, what happened to our servers because of this information we publish only now.

July 28, the domain was confiscated. To date, part of the service facility was arrested by the FBI The next update will include information on what options are available to restore the service, and also the procedure for obtaining funds, in the event that the service is not started. In the current situation, if the service is not started before the end of August, then from September 1 we will start the process of refund. In the next 1-2 weeks, we will evaluate and publish information about how much money fell into the hands of the FBI and what amount of funds is available for return.

For all those who buried us, I will remind you that the service has always worked on trust and we are ready to answer for it. The funds will be returned to everyone! Arrest of the Russian Vinnyk Alexandra: Officially declare - Alexander was never the head or employee of our service. Sincerely btc-e

The only way to compete with Jihan, is to design a better ASIC.

The same people buying mining hardware from Jihan and strengthening his hand, are the same ones complaining about Jihan.

I see all these miners complaining about Bitmain, and yet not seeming to realise that they are the ones funding their business.

What do you think Bitmain does with the profit from selling miners? They manufacture more miners for themselves. And they get them at cost.

You cannot beat Bitmain by buying products from them. They will always win at that game. You buy one S9 from them, they make 2 more for themselves with your money.

It's like complaining that McDonalds is evil whilst stuffing your face with a Big Mac.

The only way to compete with Bitmain, is to design a better ASIC. Americans own the CPU industry. Why is there no American competition for an SHA-256 ASIC?

Bitcoin is designed for miners to have the vote. The only way to even the vote is to have competition. And there isn't any.

Maybe instead of uselessly whinging that somebody else won the race (it's like Intel complaining about ARM - pointless), somebody needs to start training for the next heat?

Questions re: Corsair PSU and an S1 & S3 Antminer

Hi all,

Sorry for rhe newbie question, but picked up the above recently and also a Corsair CX750M PSU.

I'm new to all this, but will the PSU be able to handle the S1 and S3 requirements at the same time (no overclocking as yet)?

I'm going to assume I'm gonna use the 4 x 6PIN connectors for the one S3, so would that mean using the remaining 8PIN connectors converted into 2x 6PIN connectors for the S1 or would that be too much?

Oh, and what about the dual fan system? Both sucking out on opposite directions or have them inverted so one's blowing what the other's sucking? Straight through?

Any advice would be great thanks. I've had a look online but most places seem to assume a certain level of competency.

I submit we refer to the altcoin/fork of Bitcoin as Bcash. Bitfinex has stated this as an apt name in order to avoid general confusion.

bcash and the ticker symbol "BCH" are how the altcoin/fork will be referred to on Bitfinex.

See here:

As such, we plan to use BCH as the ticker symbol and “Bcash” as the descriptive name to avoid confusion with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Cash has just 0.26% of current global hash rate support.

1 TH/s is 1,000,000,000,000 hashes per second.

1 PH/s is 1,000,000,000,000,000 hashes per second.

The current hash rate for the Bitcoin network is about 6,400,000 TH/s. That's 6,400 PH/s.

The ViaBTC 'BCC' pool (currently the only one) has a hash rate of just under 17 PH/s.

17 / 6,500 = 0.26%
