QuadrigaCX is bankrupt.

As far as I can tell its all over. They lost the private keys to the coins, and the cash looks to be frozen pending a court order.

Message from QuadrigaCX Board of Directors

January 31, 2019

Dear Customers,

An application for creditor protection in accordance with the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) was filed today in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court to allow us the opportunity to address the significant financial issues that have affected our ability to serve our customers. The Court is being asked at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday February 5 to appoint a monitor, Ernst & Young Inc., as an independent third party to oversee these proceedings.

For the past weeks, we have worked extensively to address our liquidity issues, which include attempting to locate and secure our very significant cryptocurrency reserves held in cold wallets, and that are required to satisfy customer cryptocurrency balances on deposit, as well as sourcing a financial institution to accept the bank drafts that are to be transferred to us. Unfortunately, these efforts have not been successful. Further updates will be issued after the hearing.

Just a reminder: If you are considering buying bitcoin now, you are actually in a very good position as the average number for each bear market is around -84,62%. Sentiment might be super negative now but the future is much brighter for BTC

4 years ago today I bought my first BTCs...

that day 4 years ago I purchased my first few Bitcoins. They were about $320 each.

Most people said meh why, crypto was weird, stupid scheme and so on.

I started digging into this phenomenon step by step and into the startups growing within it.

And now look at this. Tons of blockchain companies founded around the globe, millions of people work with it, trade it or implement it somehow.

I'm so happy I stick around and I have zero doubts you’ll feel the same in 4 more years.

It's wonderful times we're living in. The more is yet to come!

Forget the weak hands, the speculators and the wannabe bitcoiners. How many true die hard believers are there today. The people that would never walk away from the idea of peer to peer money.Im assuming about half of the current holders are die hard bitcoiners. Somewhere around 2 million people globally.2 million people is more than enough to push humanity into the future of money, solwly but surely. The game has already been won. via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2HJXsoL

Interesting thing I just heard on CNN a few minutes ago...

They were talking about the great incoming dangers of 'Deep Fakes' (altered videos that look real) and the techno-expert said that we will be using the Blockchain technology to cryptographically time-stamp or register (paraphrasing) the videos as proof of authenticity.

In less than a week got my LND Casa Node running, channels funded, first trial payments, and finally my Blockstream stickers are here :)

Process was simple:- Buy Casa Node: I have several rpi, linux user for years, and can build myself, but wanted to try this product.- Wait..., delivery was fast but it got stuck in customs for 1 month until I paid taxes. This made the thing a bit more expensive than it should be, but it's ok. Would be great to see EU distributors soon.- Unboxing: carefully open and behold the "beast" for a moment of truth- Plug it to power and network, find it's IP address, config Port forwarding in my router.- Wait..., connect to your node @http://bit.ly/2HJknAA (yes, annoying no secure local connection) and take a rest until the blockchain sync up to latest blocks. With the +1month delivery time, including customs, this only took 1.5 days to sync up, not so bad.- Sent some BTC to the Casa Node BTC wallet.- Used half of the BTC to open 5 manual Channels with known LN nodes (LNBig and so forth), several funding sizes I choose.- Allowed Autopilot to manage half of the funds and open Channels using it's own logic. This works, but I guess it can and will improve in future. I feel more comfortable with manual channel setup.Feel free to open channels with me, it's a 24x7 node: 027be164a1ce7cca51a9fbfa2ce7d833dee7ee18827f4121e84e8132a2bd782418- When the first channel was Opened, I went to store.blockstream.com and bought some stickers using the Casa Node LN wallet to pay for them.- Transaction happened in seconds off-chain, got my email confirming the PO, and finally the stickers are here. Even the envelop is cool :D- Since then I have made several other LN payments, all went well but one which at a first attempt couldn't find a route, but in second try it went through smoothly as expected.https://i.redd.it/wu6qdu903qd21.png via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2Sh9slM

How do I add Bitcoin as a payment option for my company

Hi, I am not sure if I am in the right place for this, please direct me to the correct subreddit if this isn’t allowed!

I run a travel agency and am interested in implementing Bitcoin as a payment option. With that said, I’m not sure where I need to start and also any legal issues I need to be aware of. Could someone enlighten me if they have a prior experience adding this as a payment option? Would payments be converted to USD automatically or will I have a choice to keep it in btc?

A word about LIGHTNING. !AWESOME!

After 3 long weeks i finally set up my Lightning node on RPI and i could not be happier for all the things i learnt in this journey, i read about programming, command lines, bitcoin, lightning and DAMN i realised how little i know about all this amazing world and how much I FKING LOVE IT! But one thing sticked with me... I'm planning to keep learning and spreading the word, the power of lightning is real!

I can calmly say that if i managed to make this happen ANYONE (LITERALLY) can do the same for less than 100$ just like I did. I never opened the terminal in Mac before and today im amazed by all the things that little black screen can do.

I also should be thanking for all the help i got from the Lightning Network & Lightning Network en Espanol channels in Telegram, there are 3 or 4 lads over there with the patience of a MONK! Explaining certain kind of things to me wasn't an easy task for sure. So u all non believers or lazy people, get on board now and i promise that you WILL NEVER REGRET about that decision.

This has been one of the best investments i've made in my life, the money, time and brain cells i spent during the process were not in vain.

Thank you all developers out there!

If you like to connect with my node here it is :) it will for sure be running 24/7!

I helped three people get their first btc today

I was out after work with coworkers having some beers when I realized I left my wallet at home. "No worries, just cash app me". I said "how about I pay you in bitcoin? We can download an app and have it to you in 5 minutes" My coworkers have always had an interest in bitcoin, but even when I tried to walk them through buying $10 in an exchange they weren't comfortable doing it. "I'll do it later" they say. I noticed this trend in all my friends. Interested, but couldn't pull the trigger on a $10 purchase. I had them download Breadwallet (it's all I know) had them write their passwords on a napkin, take a pic for them to secure, made sure they knew the importance of those words and transferred them $10. Almost instantly they saw it in their wallet and I could tell they were happy to finally be in the community. Something that had seemed so foreign to them, they suddenly had it. I remember the feeling I had when I first got my coin and enjoyed seeing it in them.

I know my story isn't interesting. I just wanted to encourage others to give a small amount of coin to their friends, family and coworkers. For a beer, or for nothing. Give a dollar. Give a hundredth of a cent just because you can. I guarantee they'll be happy to have even a little, and it'll open their minds to it and make them feel more comfortable.

Also, to my fellow humans who are comfortable with the Cash app... You can buy btc on it with zero effort. It's a great way to have an "exchange" that they are already comfortable with. I went on to let them know about the dichotomy of the anonymity yet total transparency of the nature of bitcoin. To withdraw your coin even to a wallet you will be asked for your name, state ID and picture of your face. Total turn off to my friends who thought this was supposed to be dark web shit. I went on to explain ways of burner phones and the hundreds of bitcoin ATMs in Koreatown, Los Angeles. But in the end, keep your shady btc from your legit and just put in your damn name and take my $10.

Anyways, carry on and spread the small coins...

New Braiins-OS has fan control.

Just FYI, saw it had been updated. I was having trouble getting Braiins to work with my S9s, something to do with the bOs not properly recognizing the fans performance. Was able to return to using Braiins with no significant effort, esp compared to all the fan-swapping last time to get it to recognize the fans.

I remember the feeling I had when I first got my coin and enjoyed seeing it in them.I know my story isn't interesting. But in the end, keep your shady btc from your legit and just put in your damn name and take my $10.Anyways, carry on and spread the small coins... via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2HFZ96O

The LNBIG network earned from 29 December 2018 to 29 January 2019 ...

Hi!

I am owner of the LNBIG nodes. One month ago i changed fees as 0.005% + 0.5 satoshies base fee for all 20 nodes. A month later, today, i run lncli feereport at all nodes and i made the sum of all "month_fee_sum" values in satoshi from this report.

The sum of all month_fee_sum values is from 29 December 2018 to 29 January 2019 is:

166312 Satoshies It's 0,00166312 BTC or $5.74 at the current bitcoin rate... :)

I signed last lines by LNBIG LND-01 node. You can check yourself that this text is signed by 0390b5d4492dc2f5318e5233ab2cebf6d48914881a33ef6a9c6bcdbb433ad986d0 node :

In bash/shell command line for chacking is:

$ lncli verifymessage --msg "The LNBiG network earned from 2018-12-29 to 2019-01-29 166312 satoshies (5.74 USD) on fees" --sig dhkop3wpt7ck6rx5adn3wprszrqz34zijwoxiemgtmhuq5yjiyfyrmhermdryhrpa5sfermqr6q9k9x5hoqzm9pz73r9da4wk94jh3np
