Antminers (S7) that is. Batch 14 sold out and batch 15 was just announced (at a price of $582). Bitmain has long since recouped it's engineering costs on the S7, and costs for TSMC's 28nm wafers has been dropping as new designs have been moving to 16nm. http://ubm.io/1REBUZf "protecting market share" means cutting prices. By delaying it's new BM1387-based miner, bitmain can milk more from the S7 while waiting for yields and costs to improve on the 16FFC node. George Kikvadze at Bitfury proved to be more hype than substance (nothing new there), and the Avalon 6 is priced to high to compete with the S7. The result is that I think we'll see a few more S7 batches, with the price on the final batch dropping to $500 (a 72% price drop in 5 months)!
