Best way to cash out all alt coins..?

Is it best to convert all Alts into BTC before withdrawing BTC to cold Storage?Some Alts say Nbtc or something like that when getting cash out in btc value. Does this mean the fees would be more then the conversion or something? via /r/CryptoCurrency http://bit.ly/1SxluB2
