Here's a direct quote from Blockstream co-founder Greg Maxwell—aka u/nullc—on their incentives and goals (emphasis added by me):Everyone at Blockstream has a monetary interest in Bitcoin's success-- we use timelocked bitcoins as incentive compensation; and most people in the company are very long time (since 2009 to early 2011) Bitcoin users who were personally very interested in Bitcoin's success long before blockstream; and we created the company to be able to fund more efforts to insure that success.
