Why is Coinbase pushing an improperly forked coin?

Aren't they supposed to be the user-friendly conservative on-ramp to Bitcoin? I got an email from them letting me know I can buy ETHER, but no mention that Ethereum is forked and the chains aren't properly separated. via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2aeVjPL
