New to Bitcoin

Hey, so I listen to Joe Rogans podcast and ran across the latest one with Andreas Antonopoulos explaining Bitcoin. There was a lot to soak in, so I've been doing some research since I'm very interested in starting to use Bitcoin. My main question is for someone like me who doesn't make much money to begin with..would it be a good idea to start using Bitcoin and treat it like a savings account? I really like the idea of it being privatized cause F the man, but I wanna know from more experienced users what the pros and cons are.

Thank you

From nowhere to 100,000 app downloads and adding 20,000 users a month. India will soon have more active bitcoin users that the rest of the world combined. This adoption rate, will cement bitcoin as the world digital currency above all other coins.

Running Avalon 6 on Windows or OS X?

I got an Avalon 6, and cannot get the Pi to boot. Other images work fine on the Pi, but Avalon's image does not work :/

I figured I would try running it on Windows or OS X, but I cannot get any tools to detect the miner.

Anyone had any success getting this miner to work?

Will Bitcoin scale to be exclusively used as a store of value?

Almost everyone in the world can access gold in some way. Some more easily than others, through jewelry or gold bars.Bitcoin its value comes from its first mover adventage and its simplicity. It is what makes it the most trusted, secure and most widely accept cryptocurrency. However, imagine it never properly addresses its scaling issues and stays stuck at 1MB or even some more with the SegWit tricks. This capacity is way too low to function as any sort of world currency. So the only thing left that it could potentially do well in that scenario is to end up as a store of value. Where transactions are almost exclusively people moving big chunks of value between various storage methods and across exchanges. The question is then, what is the minimum required transaction throughput needed to allow it to grow towards such end? And more importantly, is that required throughput lower than what the bitcoin network supports? If not, then I don't see how Bitcoin will not eventually reach a valuation of zero due to it not being able to meet the demand for even the least technical demanding use case.Does anyone have some data that could be used to get an idea of the minimum required network throughput to have it function only as a store of value? Something like, how often are people moving money into their saving accounts? Or perhaps rather, how often are people buying physical gold to store themselves? via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2diPTUh

How to "Send" and "Receive"

I don't understand the mechanics of BTC and I'd like to learn either by good explanation or by testing. Is there any way to do test transactions? Like an exchange that offers free .000001BTC so you can test how to do it?Once I convert some fiat into BTC, I guess I'll be able to play but I'm nervous because I don't yet understand "Send" and "Receive" well enough to know how to get the BTC off of the exchange and onto my wallet. It's like: usually to get something into a piece of software on my computer, I click "download now" and the PDF opens in Adobe or whatever. But I don't get how bitcoin floating in the ether gets into the wallet on my computer.I know this seems like a really silly question to you all but can you see how it's an important one for a noob?I've read a million docs but if you have some to recommend I'll read those too. via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2dECcyd
