What criteria do people use to join a pool?
My understanding is the main reason to join a pool is to smooth out payments. Wouldn't this mean everyone would want to join the biggest pool since it would win/pay most often? This is clearly not happening since see multiple pools, including small ones (which I don't know why you'd want to join a very small pool as the benefit of smoother payments could be minimal).
Could someone help explain what's happening here?
