I just needed to tell someone who could appreciate it.I took one of my old computers from like 2008 and put a new 1TB hard drive in it. Installed Linux and Bitcoin core from bitcoin.org and started downloading the blockchain. She'll only take 4GB of RAM max.I have it cranked down on number of peers, so that it does not consume all of my bandwidth on the initial block download. I'd say that I have a little more than half of the blockchain in about 4 days of downloading off and on. I mostly let it run over night while I sleep.I am now officially part of the solution.
