Prices of everything want to be less not more.

Prices of everything have only ever attempted to be cheaper and it’s always been that way.

The reason we’ve never seen it, or felt it, is because we’ve only ever priced everything in an inflationary money. If it wasn’t for inflation prices would fall to the marginal price of production in order to be competitive.

The point of innovation is to give “more for less” but inflation doesn’t let us experience this so instead we experience getting less for more.

Deflationary Bitcoin removes this illusionary vail and lets us see true technological progress.

Humanity hasn’t even started to prosper.

Friendly reminder: you have two more days to move your sats out of the CUSTODIAL lightning service, before BlueWallet shut it down. On-chain wallets are unaffected.

Again, this doesn't affect their non-custodial on-chain Bitcoin wallet.

https://bluewallet.io/sunsetting-lndhub/

Have a look at these, non custodian wallets:

https://phoenix.acinq.co/

https://blixtwallet.github.io/

https://breez.technology/

To start you off and open a channel, you'll have to pay (less than $1 worth of sats) fee. Once set, you'll be able to enjoy almost free payments, that take just a few seconds.

If you've just a tiny amount of sats, you can use a custodial wallet like Wallet of Satoshi but these sats are never truly yours and if WoS is gone, so are your money.

Had a revelation the other day... I don't ever see a scenario in which I liquidate all my BTC to 'retire'

I've been heavily involved in crypto for the last 5 years, and after working at multiple crypto companies, and talking to a lot of people, I'm long on Bitcoin.

When talking about retirement with my wife, we were discussing what price BTC would have to go to to sell our bag. We talked about what it might look like in 5 or 10 years, and in 20 or 50 years.

As we played through various scenarios, I kept coming to the same conclusion... I don't know that there is a price that makes sense to sell at. Even at $2MM/BTC... i'd rather have $2MM value of BTC than $2MM of USD. I do believe that USD inflation is a major problem this generation will face in its lifetime, and I can't imagine how awful it would be to sell the bag, and watch its value shrink as the dollar continues to inflate.

I do plan on retiring and living off BTC in the future... I just don't see a future where that involves me selling in bulk. It was definitely a bit of a lightbulb moment for me... prior to this i just always assumed that 10-15 years from now when the price is hovering around the clouds I'd happily sell it all, pay my taxes, and enjoy retirement. Now I just imagine traveling the world as a Bitcoin Native

A new full node is born.

Hi everybody,I am happy to report that a new Bitcoin & Lightning full node is now up and running to support the network.I’ve been wanting to do this for a few months but I didn’t have a spare device to use for this specific purpose and honestly I was not even sure what to use. Raspberry Pi with Umbrel looked like the best option for ease of installation and use but supply chain shortages and price hikes made me wait a bit more and look for better deals.Long story short, I didn’t buy a Raspberry Pi and I didn’t use Umbrel. Here are the details about my Bitcoin & Lightning full node:HARDWAREBeelink U59 Pro mini PC.It was on sale on Amazon, I got it for € 245,00. Comes with a single 8 GB RAM stick and a 512GB M.2 SATA SSD which is basically the boot drive with the operating system and all the applications. I maxed out the RAM at 16GB with two sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2933MHz which were on sale as well and cost me € 30,00. The U59 Pro has room for a second 2.5” SATA drive so I installed a Crucial MX500 2TB SATA SSD that I had laying around and that’s where the Bitcoin blockchain and the Fulcrum database are stored.OPERATING SYSTEMUbuntu MATE 22.04.2 LTS Jammy Jellyfish.I performed a minimal installation. I am not super proficient with the terminal so I opted for MATE as it’s a fork of the old Gnome 2 desktop environment which is my favorite. A bit of eye candy doesn’t hurt, I guess.BITCOIN & LIGHTNING STACKBitcoin Core v24.0.1Fulcrum Electrum Server v1.9.1JoinMarket v0.9.9Jam for JoinMarket v0.1.5Mempool v2.5.0Lightning Network Daemon v0.16.0-betaLightning Terminal (LiT) v0.9.0-alphaRide The Lightning v0.13.6-betaBoltz Exchange v1.2.7-862ab4aThunderhub v0.13.18It’s been a great learning experience so far. Two days ago I didn’t even know how to clone a GitHub repository and now everything is working as expected. I still need to learn a lot more especially on coinjoins and Lightning in general but I am really happy with what I’ve achieved so far.The main sources of information to build my full node are Ministry Of Nodes’ video tutorials on YouTube and the incredible RaspiBolt guide. Both have been very useful to get me started in this beautiful project, but I faced some issues every now and then due to the fact that I was dealing with newer versions of the apps and things didn’t work out of the box all the time so I had to RTFM here and there.Do I regret not going with Umbrel? Yes.Was this all worth it tho? YES²⁵⁶.Please consider running a node. Take care. via /r/Bitcoin https://bit.ly/3Llp9De

There is no way to put the genie back in the bottle

For the people who believe in bitcoin (which this subreddit must have a good portion of those who have "bought in"), what would/could change your mind? What would make you stop Hodling, DCAing, caring about bitcoin? For most in this sub, I would guess nothing. There is a base of support for bitcoin that will never go away. Some might call this fanaticism but show me a technology that hasn't had an early adopter fanatic base of users.A monetary asset not controlled by a central authority - there will always be demand for an asset such as this and the drivers of this demand are growing daily.A monetary asset without counterparty risk - demand will only increase for this.A monetary asset with a known monetary policy - demand will only grow, supply will not change. My point is that there is only one way to go from here. The cart is out of the barn. The cat is out of the bag.The level of Bitcoin adoption (at this point) only has one way to go: up.Believers aren't selling, and new Bitcoiners are mined every day.We are in at least a small part in an echo chamber, our belief in Bitcoin bolstered by the confidence of each other in this sub. There is no doubt about that. But I think (fully understanding going deeper in the echo chamber here) the point where bitcoin's global adoption can be stopped has already passed. The momentum is too strong to be stopped at this point. Bitcoin is a runaway train of adoption in the first turns of its wheels; when the wheels get up to speed, nothing can stop it.There is no way to put the genie back in the bottle.Rant over (sorry for all the idioms and metaphors) via /r/Bitcoin https://bit.ly/3mTbolG

BEHOLD - Future bitcoin prices in fiat revealed!!!

Since about 90% of the posts here relate to bitcoin's least interesting attribute (ie: fiat price), I thought I'd provide some highly valuable technical analysis that I've compiled after years of in-depth research.

My method involves a complex open source system that analyzes supply and demand for the world's first and only truly scarce digital asset. It takes into account all possible black swan events, government bans, alt coins, hard forks, media FUD, etc.

Bitcoin fiat price and fiat value over time

Visualizations are made via MS paint. Fiat/bitcoin is represented by the orange line and the left axis, while fiat value (ie: purchasing power) is represented on the right axis and via the green line.

Since lines can be confusing, I will point out a few key takeaways.

First, you'll note that bitcoin's fiat value varies greatly over the short term, but appears to only increase over the long term. The signal here is undeniable but unfortunately, the AI model I used wasn't able to provide units for the time axis. Sadly, the best guidance also appears to be the hardest, namely to just buy and hold. Conversely, your odds of getting fiat rich quickly appear to be minimized the shorter your time horizon is.

Second, we see that fiat value itself is less variable but trending toward zero over time. Those looking to get fiat rich may wish to revisit this strategy as their purchasing power seems to only be eroding over time.

A common question I see is whether now is a good time to buy bitcoin. This is a tough one based on the training data set. Since there is a 100% chance that bitcoin will gain in value over the long term and a 100% chance that fiat value is going to zero, it is really important to do your own research on this topic. If you decide that bitcoin isn't right for you, you may be looking to get fiat rich quickly, and in that case, you should probably not buy bitcoin. A post-hoc analysis also revealed a significant inverse relationship between looking to get fiat rich quickly and intelligence, but that will be explored in more depth in posts to follow.
