Could someone explain paper and offline wallets to a beginner please

I see posts about paper wallets and physical wallets like trezor but don't really understand them. Can anyone break is down simply or point me in the direction where I can understand them. At the moment I am using airbitz for my small amount of bitcoin via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2lTXuOr
