PSA (important terminology): when we say we pay "with lightning" or "in lightning" instead of "with Bitcoin via / on lightning" we do ourselves a big disservice as everybody not as knowledgeable as us thinks we are using another currency, not Bitcoin.

I came to realize this problem now over the last few months taking payments via the LN at our bar ROOM77 in Berlin. The amount of people from outside of the community who have by now asked me what the new lightning currency is all about is staggering and we even had staff members who took LN payments for quite a while without having understood that they are actually accepting Bitcoin.Accordingly we have aksed our staff not to ask our customers "do you want to pay with Bitcoin or with Lightning?" and instead offer the choice of "Bitcoin onchain or via the Lightning Network?".I think by not using the right wording we are creating unneccessary confusion amongst all the bystanders and noobs and at the same time playing into the hands of the people selling fake bitcoins and claiming that bitcoins on the LN are not actually bitcoins.Thanks for considering this wording suggestion or using your own as long as it avoids the confusion desribed above! via /r/Bitcoin http://bit.ly/2P50BjB
