i'm new to this, so before doing anything, does bitcoin miner cause any damage to older pcs?

i have a core i5 HP Envy 23 TouchSmart pc, wich has 1TB of memory (currently around 650GB free space) and 6GB RAM (wich is going to be 16GB RAM cuz i'm gonna buy a new RAM). can i do bitcoin mining with my pc without harming it?
