Interested in mining, saw an old video saying expectations can rough l.j y be broken down to 30 bucks a day. Has the game changed?

I scrap as a hobby among other things, and often come across laptops and PCs that people are discarding so I have a healthy stack of hard drives, ram, power supplies and depending on what is needed, graphics cards. I'm not really requesting a complete breakdown of the process, as I sure I can find it on the sub, but if anyone is interested in sharing noob info with a noob, thatd be pretty coo.
