In the early nineties my parents bought and hooked up a dial-up modem. It cost about 20 cents per minute to be online and a single page took several minutes to load. This is where Bitcoin is right now.

You can see why at that time so many people couldn't grasp the value of the technology, calling it a fad or a useless experiment. Those who recognized the potential and acted on it are now very wealthy.
