The toxic and condescending comments I see geared at newcomers are not helping bitcoin become a world currency

I keep seeing pissy comments from crypto ‘veterans’ leaving shitty “you know nothing” responses to commenters in this sub that very explicitly state they are new and still learning. Usually these newbies will leave a comment saying something like “hey I’m still pretty new to this” followed by either an opinion or theory they have depending on the type of post they are commenting on. I have noticed that a lot of times the responses to those types of comments are usually not very constructive and instead just tend to be dismissive or just a simple ‘you have no idea what you’re talking about’.

So look I get that bitcoin has this internet following and I know people on the internet don’t tend to like it when ‘normies’ try to adopt something that they have shunned or made fun of in the past. HOWEVER, this is one of those cases where new people jumping on the bandwagon is good for all of us! I know that when somebody comes into a comment thread acting like they know what they are talking about but they don’t, it can be very tempting to respond harshly when it doesn’t agree with your knowledge.

I would love to see the community of this sub become a bit more educational for the newcomers. If you help people understand bitcoin instead of just telling them they know nothing then you could potentially get another person to invest in bitcoin. I honestly see zero issue with helping newcomers make smart investments in bitcoin (especially since it is so scary to people that don’t understand it). More believers just helps us all here, the more we educate and help each other the better bitcoin will do in the long run. Making bitcoin into an exclusive club doesn’t help anybody in the long run and could potentially ruin this great opportunity for a decentralized currency.

DISCLAIMER: A lot of people in this sub are fantastic about educating instead of berating in comments and you guys rock, this is in no way geared at all of you. You all have helped me learn a lot and helped me feel a lot more comfortable about investing in bitcoin. This is only geared at those that feel they need to gatekeep bitcoin or respond with a simple negative opinion instead of helping to educate people that may be understanding things incorrectly.
