What should pleb like me know about the 1st of Aug?

I have no idea what the fuck is SegWit, BIP 148 and rest of the shit in the same line. I've googled so many acronyms to try and understand the upcoming shitstorm, but as you can guess from miles away i've just recently joined the community. How is all that fireworks bound to go down on 1st of Aug affect simpleminded mini/rookie-investor like me? I'm not worried about really losing my money (as i'm only gambling as much as i am ready to lose), i would like to understand how that shit that i can't comprehend is going to affect people like me in general.Should i be trying to help push on whatever that UASF shit myself even if i'm uneducated in the field to help the community?EDIT: Holy shit how much more clear it is now.
